It all started for me in Stockton, CA in the
the mid 80's when I began singing, playing
piano, and writing songs at the age of 13. At
16 years old, I met some amazing young
musicians from Franklin High School in East
Stockton at an all city band performance. By
the time l was 17, I was recording in Los
Angeles at Ameraycan Studios under the
creative tutelage/vocal coaching of Philip
Ingram (Switch, Motown) and Ollie Brown
(Ollie&Jerry). After that crash course into the
world of the LA music scene where I
recorded demos with great folks like Philip
Ingram, Marc Nelson (Az Yet), and shopping
tunes to labels, and publishers, I headed
back to Northern California and just kept
writing music for artists and gigging. From
playing keyboards at 19 years old with
Confunkshun saxophonist Ron Moton, to
performing solo piano and singing every
Summer weekend at my favorite Caribbean
restaurant The Breadfruit Tree, eventually
Some of my music began to find its way into
the hands of other artists and producers.
To date, music I've created has been
recorded and produced by artists such as
Jeff Lorber, Brian Bromberg, Les Sabler, Eric
Marienthal, Toni Scruggs, Rahsaan
Patterson, and R&B crooner Keith Eric
Martin. l've had the pleasure to share the
stage with some of my favorite artists: Jon
B, Morris Day and The Time, Donell Jones,
as well as residencies with my own band
project: Love City Riot.
Well, that's about it in a nutshell. I gotta run
now but I want to say thank you for
checking me out here on the world wide
web. I really do appreciate it. It takes time,
and time really is the most precious thing
that we have to give. l hope to meet you at
a future show. Come hang. Chill. Listen.
Feel. Enjoy. Say Hello! I always appreciate
the love!
So be good to yourself... and drink lots
of water! Sorry, I'm probably saying that
more as a reminder to myself.
Big Love,
Rocky Ramirez
